The Green Bay Packers are known for having one of the most talented groups of wide receivers in the NFL. Not only do they have talented receivers, they are also very deep at that position with five receivers who are capable of dominating at any time. Now the Packers have added another weapon to their roster in undrafted rookie Jarrett Boykin.

Boykin led the Packers in receptions in the preseason with 13 and showed a lot of promise and upside to his game. Going into the preseason, it seemed unlikely that the Packers were going to keep six receivers unless someone really stepped up and impressed the coaching staff.

The receiver who many people believed could be the sixth receiver for Green Bay was Tori Gurley. Many people remember Gurley as the player who declined roster positions on other teams to stay on the Packers practice squad. Gurley said that he wanted to stay in Green Bay and earn his way onto a championship caliber team. Most players in the NFL would not pass up an opportunity to play NFL football just to stay on a team that can win a championship, but Gurley did. Unfortunately, his dedication to the Packers didn’t pay off and he was released on Friday.

It is unclear whether or not Boykin will see any playing time or if he will play on special teams until he is needed if there is an injury to any of the receivers.
