The Indianapolis Colts hire Bruce Arians as the teams new offensive coordinator.

Arians has worked with Peyton Manning as QB coach from 1998-2000. He then moved to the Cleveland Browns to become the offensive coordinator there. Arians first coached as a graduated assistant in 1975 at Virginia Tech. Later Arians moved to the NFL as a running back coach in 1989 and stayed there until 1992 with the Kansas City Chiefs. His latest stop was with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

When Arians was in Pittsburgh, he was able to use the talent the team had and plan a game plan towards the strengths of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. In Arians’ five seasons as coordinator, the Steelers ranked in the top 10 in rushing only once, and that was in 2007 at number three.

The signing of Arians has moved last years offensive coordinator, Clyde Christensen, to wide receiver coach, a position that he held from 2002-2009. With these changes it just proves that GM Ryan Grigson is acting fast and in the right direction. The biggest thing to take from this is the fact that Arians  used to work with Peyton Manning, and maybe looking forward to be reunited with him in the 2012 season.

Bruce Arians will fly in on Monday to look over and sign the contract.
