The Jaguars play Carolina in week 3. Blaine Gabbert was once in conversation with Cam Newton to go #1 overall. The oddsmakers in Vegas will favor Carolina and Cam Newton because of his back to back 400 yard passing games. Newton is 2nd in passing yards behind Tom Brady.
New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez threw 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in this contest. You would think that his numbers would be better with a 32 to 3 win.
The Jets blocking in general was really good. The Jets need a new right tackle since Damien Woody left. The Jets starter at right tackle allowed a sack against Matt Roth and was constantly pressured Aaron Kampman. The Jets run blocking allowed the Jets to gain 101 rushing yards and Shonn Green managed to perform the best among the Jets rushers with 16 carries for 49 rushing yards, and 1 rushing touchdown. Those numbers are pretty pedestrian if Green is on your fantasy football team.
The Jaguars blocking was good also. Their offensive tackles kept the Jets pass rushers in check. The Jaguars guards struggled to pass block last year. That is still an issue this season in 2011. The Jaguars did a good job run blocking and zone blocking also.
Maurice Jones Drew was limited to 18 carries
The one player who stood out for the Jacksonville Jaguars on defense was stood out was Rashean Mathis. Mathis has 7 solo tackles, a swatted pass which kept the Jets from making this a 39 to 3 win, and an interception. Mathis limited Holmes receptions as Holmes only tallied 3 receptions, for 42 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown.
New York Jets tight end Dustin Keller had 6 receptions, for 101 receiving yards, and 1 receiving yards.
New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie had 2 interceptions after Darrell Revis had that clutch interception against Tony Romo back in week 1. Its going to be really difficult to throw on this secondary.
Jets kicker Nick Folk went 3/3 converting 3 field goals in the game.
The Jets won 32 to 3. The Jets won this game because the Jaguars offense didn’t respond. Sanchez didn’t play his best game, but he didn’t need to with the sloppiness of the Jaguars offense in this game.
