Nathan Eovaldi, Rubby De La Rosa, Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley, Javy Guerra, Kenley Jansen, Scott Elbert, Josh Lindblom, these are all the young pitchers that have been effective for the Dodgers this season, so obviously young pitching isn’t something the Dodgers have issues with.

Then there’s Zach Lee, Shawn Tolleson (with his amazing 13.5 strikeouts per 9 inning), Steven Ames, Cole St. Clair, Garrett Gould, among others who are tearing it up in the minor leagues. (I only listed those in A+ and above, there are some real nice guys in Rookie and A as well).

So, what do you do with all that pitching if you’re the Dodgers?  What would you improve?

That’s easy my good sir, you improve your corner positions, specifically first base (I love you Loney but…bye, maybe stay as a pitch hitting specialist?) third base, and left field. We’re set in right field, center field, shortstop, and catcher (somewhat).

The organizations best hitting prospects are at least a year away, Angelo Songco, (great name) and Alfredo Silverio, who is an extra base machine with 33 doubles and 14 triples, and then there’s still Jerry Sands who could turn into a monster.

So what the Dodgers, specifically Ned Colletti, need to do is take a young pitcher and try to get something in the off-season. I’d prefer a young guy but if you can get an established player, as I believe this team is a hitter or two and some good bullpen pitching away from being a contender, I’ll take that.

Then again, with the problem of steroids in baseball diminishing and this league turning back into a pitching friendly league, having all that young pitching is a great problem to have.
