NBA Major Rumor: A Four-Team Trade could send Dwight Howard to the Lakers

I got this buddy of mine I’ve known since childhood. His name is Xavier and he is a LOYAL Lakers fan. Today is his birthday and this article is for him.

It looks like the Lakers can get their main wish, which is to get Dwight Howard on their team. Talks have now opened up between four teams to have a shuffling of rosters. The four teams are the Orlando Magic, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Denver Nuggets.

The deal would send Magic center Dwight Howard and Nuggets forward Al Harrington to the Lakers, and the Lakers will give up Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol to other teams.

76ers guard Andre Iguodala will go to the Nuggets, Lakers center Andrew Bynum will go to the 76ers, and other Lakers center Pau Gasol and Denver guard Arron Affalo will go to the Magic.

I know this is hard to keep track of, so let me restate it more clearly below.

Lakers gain: Center Dwight Howard and forward Al Harrington

Lakers lose: Centers Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol

Magic gain: Center Pau Gasol and guard Arron Affalo

Magic lose: Center Dwight Howard

Nuggets gain: Guard Andre Iguodala

Nuggets lose: Guard Arron Affalo and forward Al Harrington

76ers gain: Center Andrew Bynum

76ers lose: Guard Andre Iguodala

Now, none of this has become official. These are just talks. I can theoretically talk about signing Michael Jordan back to let’s say the Miami Heat and then trading him to the Boston Celtics. It doesn’t mean it is going to happen. The same applies to these talks. We do not know if this will happen.

This benefits the Lakers greatly because they will get the defensive mammoth at center in Dwight Howard, and also get rid of Pau Gasol. They have been wanting to trade the declining and expensive Gasol for quite a while. They are even willing to lose Bynum to do it. While Bynum is a very talented player, there are still questions as to his desire and love for the game.

The Lakers are assembling a complex gameplan that they believe will help them win championships now.

Signing Steve Nash and getting Dwight Howard now will make the gameplan realistic.

The question is will this deal happen? It is an odd deal because it is all players. I have heard nothing concerning draft picks or salary relief in any report. If the Lakers pull this off, they rid themselves of two giant salaries and get a defensive center and Al Harrington at forward. Not a bad move.

I don’t see why this deal should happen though because the Magic have to be flatout brainless to do it. They lose the most and gain Pau Gasol and Arron Affalo. Why would they give up the best center in the game for a declining center and a guard? If they were getting Bynum in the deal, it is understandable, but Gasol?

However, I know how my buddy Xavier feels. He wants Howard in and Gasol out.

If this happens, he can remember it all started on his birthday.

Again, I love you X. Happy Birthday!
