According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Milwaukee Brewers made an offer to Prince Fielder for 5 years/$100 million. However, the Brewers are willing to move up to 6 years/$120 million if they must.

It has been the assumption that Fielder will sign a monster contract with a team that has a big payroll, such as the Washington Nationals or Chicago Cubs. If for some reason these teams decide not to give him the $180-200 million contract that is expected, the Brewers might have a fighting chance to sign him due to how comfortable Fielder is playing in Milwaukee with his closest friends. Some of these players sign big contracts with teams they do not want to be apart of. A lot of times it is all about the money and taking care of their family. Fielder has the unique opportunity to not only take care of his family but enjoy going to work every day with people he truly enjoys being around. Not to mention Miller Park is one of the most state of the art stadiums in all of baseball.

There is speculation that if the Brewers are unable to sign Fielder for whatever reason, they can put that money towards Aramis Ramirez and some other players or sign a big deal with Jose Reyes. With the winter meetings coming up I am sure we will have a better idea of what is going to happen soon.
