One of the most popular fighters to ever step foot inside the octagon has been Brock Lesnar. The former collegiate and pro wrestler took the MMA scene by storm, taking on Frank Mir in his first ever UFC bout. It didn’t go as planned, getting tapped out by Mir in the first round, but Lesnar showed great potential and a star was born that day.

Lesnar is the former UFC heavyweight champ but has been retired from MMA for several years now. It seems, however, that he might come back to the sport he once dominated, according to UFC president Dana White. At the UFC 168 pre-fight press conference, White said he’s not sure about Lesnar’s return.

Anything is possible in this sport, but it seemed like White hinted at Lesnar’s return. With George St. Pierre retired, for now, and Anderson Silva maybe a couple of fights away from retirement, the UFC drastically needs stars to headline their pay per views and also keep interest in the sport.

Lesnar was one of the most popular fighters in the UFC when he was fighting, so it would benefit the UFC greatly if he indeed comes back. Lesnar’s last fight inside the octagon was against Alistair Overeem, but that bout didn’t go his way which is a credit to the type of striking techniques Overeem has.

Also, Lesnar suffered from multiple illnesses during his time as heavyweight champ and around the time of his Overeem fight, so he never truly recovered to be completely healthy. Maybe now is the time for him to come back and prove he still has what it takes to be an elite fighter. So, will Lesnar return and be competitive in the heavyweight division? Stay tuned!
