Durability: Cascio has played in 19 games through 4 seasons at Connecticut.

Soccer IQ: Cascio is smart and instinctive when recognizing where to shoot the soccer ball.

Awareness: Cascio has field vision to execute different shots from the left, middle, or right side of the net.

Intangibles: Cascio has different intangibles that he can bring to the table.

Pinpoint Accuracy: Cascio has that pinpoint accuracy that teams will look for when executing their shots.

Goal Scoring Striker: Cascio has the ability to be a goal scoring striker.

Can Play Forward: Cascio can play forward as a primary striker.

Can Play Secondary Striker: Cascio has the ability to be used as a secondary striker.

Can Play Left Wing: Cascio has the ability to line up as a left winger.

Can Play Right Wing: Cascio has the ability to line up on the opposite side of the left wing spot at right wing.

Can Play Attacking Midfielder: Cascio has the ability to play an attacking midfielder role.

Cons

Size: Cascio is slightly undersized for an offensive player.

Learning Rate: Cascio may need some time to learn and adjust to his natural position.  Cascio has tons of versatility.  He still lacks a natural position though.

Potential: Tony Cascio had a great supporting cast at Connecticut with Alvarez, Diouf, Jean Baptiste, and Blake.  I am not sure Cascio’s departure really hurts Connecticut next season.

My Thoughts On Tony Cascio

Cascio is getting a lot of hype as a mid round pick.  I am not buying the hype.  I really believe Cascio has an amazing Connecticut team surrounding him.  Maybe its just me, but this seems like a case where a player is getting excessive hype.  Cascio is a good college prospect.  I do get the feeling there are better players on his team.  At the end of the day it really would not surprise me if someone overdrafted him.
