NBA Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia Sixers Should Strongly Consider Trading Alexey Shved

The Philadelphia 76ers have already established themselves as a team bent on tanking in order to solidify another strong draft pick heading into next season. Heck, if the Cleveland Cavaliers could do it four years and eventually get an amazing player in LeBron James to return, why can’t the 76ers? Because a player of LeBron’s caliber isn’t walking through that door, and this franchise seems to be okay with coasting on mediocrity. You have to feel bad for the fanbase that is subjected to this.

With all of that being said, the 76ers should be looking to the future, mainly the summer of 2016 when all of the best free agents will be available, and start clearing cap space to make a serious run at a superstar talent. With a talented frontcourt of Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid, a few more veteran players could make this team a lot more of contender in the Eastern Conference. This is why the 76ers should seriously consider trading Alexey Shved to another team that is desperate for a quality point guard.

Shved is young to the NBA, which already is a valued commodity. The three-year guard is already averaging higher numbers through his first four games than what he accomplished in two years with the Minnesota Timberwolves. His shooting percentages may be a little low, but Shved is a quality distributor and overall playmaker. He would be the perfect fit as a backup point guard for any title contending team.

The 76ers could either trade Shved for cap space to another franchise, or even trade for a quality veteran guard who is working off a veteran’s minimum contract, also saving the franchise cap space in the long run. Either way, Shved’s $3.3 million dollar contract needs to come off the books to give the franchise enough financial flexibility for the summer of 2016.
