Dwyane Wade has looked like a superstar once again with LeBron James off on the Cleveland Cavaliers, but does the SG deserve a selection to the Eastern Conference's All-Star starting lineup? Not so fast. He has been decent, but players like John Wall and Jimmy Butler are more deserving. Much love as always to Wade, however, here are some reasons to look elsewhere when voting for the starting backcourt.

The Miami Heat are 14-19 so far this season, and this is my main reason Wade should come off the bench. His scoring average (23.2 points per game) has been phenomenal, but the team record indicates he might be pressing.

Jimmy Butler is currently the Chicago Bulls' best player, and there is little doubt about that. Derrick Rose could surpass Jimmy once the PG gains his full health and confidence back, but for now, the nod must go to Butler. Wade will likely get more votes than both of those two and only deserves to surpass one of them.

3. John Wall's Emergence

Starting Wade at PG would not be the worst thing ever, but the fans have come out early in support of John Wall so far. The Washington Wizards are a playoff contender because of their young floor general, and all other Eastern Conference guards will have trouble catching Wall in votes.

There are fans who only like voting for one member of each team, and this will cause Wade to lose some votes to Chris Bosh. This is more of a technical reason than a statistical one. The SG would probably love it if both of them were starters, but that is not a likely scenario.

I do not mean to be glib, but Wade would probably prefer coming off of the bench and getting a little more rest. The All-Star "break" is kind of a misnomer for the league's stars, because they must attend too many different business and media responsibilities.
