5 Free Agents T-Wolves Should Target This Offseason

Flip Saunders and longtime veteran Kevin Garnett can still improve this young and talented team through free agency. If they do, they will quickly find themselves in the hunt for a playoff spot in the Western Conference sooner rather than later. Minnesota should consider adding these five players during the offseason.

KJ McDaniels is a winner, and I really believe that. He was great as a Clemson Tiger and has been a very well-rounded player in his first season in the league. The Timberwolves are still learning how to win, and adding a proven youngster with the right mindset can truly make all the difference. He can help establish that winning attitude Minnesota has craved. Pair him with all the other youngsters on the T-Wolves and watch them grow.

4. PF - Cory Jefferson

Cory Jefferson was very underrated at Baylor. He hasn't had much playing time in the NBA yet, but he definitely has potential. Having Kevin Garnett mentor him would be a fantastic idea, and you honestly couldn't find anyone better. Jefferson is built the same way as KG too -- long arms, athletic build and about 6-foot-10. If Garnett can take him under his wing, he will become dangerous. Jefferson has great potential just waiting to erupt.

3. SF/SG - Gerald Green

It would be great to pair the high-flying Gerald Green with pass-first point guard Ricky Rubio and company. Minnesota wants to get out on the fast break every chance they get, and Green would help them do that. His minutes may fluctuate, but he will definitely make the practices more intense. The more high-flying action for the Timberwolves next year, the better. Plus, he already had a brief stint with the T-Wolves in 2007.

2. PG - Russ Smith

Russ Smith was a known entity in college with coach Rick Pitino, and now with his first year in the books, he'll be looking to make a similar impact. Smith may be small, but he's very talented and tough. That's why Minnesota would be a very good fit -- he's still very young and could easily find a niche with these Timberwolves as they love to run fast break pick-n-rolls. His speed could be a very dangerous asset.

Who says LeBron James going back home to Cleveland was a one-time story? Kevin Love going back home would be just as special to Minnesota fans, and now with Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine in the mix, the Wolves would have a chance to win in the West. Love is obviously lost right now and looking for a home, but wouldn't it be great if he went back? He could get everything he ever wanted from Minnesota -- a chance to compete in the playoffs.
