Los Angeles Clippers PG Chris Paul is being featured today in a new line of State Farm ads, and he even got one of his teammates into the mix this time around. The commercials center around a family called the Hoopers, and a different NBA star portrays each member of the clan.

Paul’s teammate, DeAndre Jordan, plays the mom in a stunning wig, Cleveland Cavaliers PF Kevin Love is the son, Portland Trail Blazers PG Damian Lillard is, of course, the baby and Minnesota Timberwolves veteran Kevin Garnett pulls off the grandpa with a superb performance and easily gets the most laughs. Paul, who plays the dad, was particularly impressed by Garnett’s comedic chops.
“When I heard KG was going to be a part of it, I said, ‘Really?’” the PG said to USA Today. “The funniest guy probably had to be Kevin Garnett. It was pure comedy. I’ve known KG over the years from playing basketball, but I didn’t know he is as funny as he is.”
Does KG possibly have a future in the film industry? It will probably be there for him if he wants it. Jordan is also great in all of the three spots that debuted on Christmas, especially the one about the house being robbed, and it was quite humorous to see him poke fun at the fact that he doesn’t have any championship rings.

Paul is creating some positive buzz as a product endorser as well with these commercials after a successful campaign with State Farm last season playing both himself and separated-from-birth brother Cliff Paul. The insurance and financial services company is clearly pleased with how integrated their partnership has become with the NBA both on and off the court, and they are wisely utilizing all of the personality that the players in this league possess.
Garnett definitely stole the show in this one, and we can expect to see him in more of these based on how funny they turned out. In some true irony, the man who used to be called “The Kid” is now hilariously playing an old man.
