Chris Bosh And The Biggest Snubs From 2016 U.S. Olympic Basketball Team Finalists

Team USA trimmed its basketball roster to 30, which excluded some top names in the sport. While the roster will only have 12 by the time the team heads to Rio, these 10 players were snubbed from the final 30 roster.

10. PG Deron Williams - Dallas Mavericks

Deron Williams isn't who he used to be, but not being on the 30-man roster right now is ridiculous. He's still one of the better and more experienced point men in the mix. If nothing else, he could've pushed more talented and younger guards before getting cut later on in order to improve their play heading into the Olympics.

9. C Tyson Chandler - Phoenix Suns

Chandler isn't as talented as he used to be either, but he's one of the more multi-talented big men available to the Team USA roster. His defense certainly would've added to practices leading up to more cuts. It seems like Coach K and his staff are getting right down to business and aren't keeping anyone for "practice squad" purposes before the next round of cuts.

8. SG Kobe Bryant - Los Angeles Lakers

It would've been a nice story for Kobe to make the final roster in his final season, even though he knows he doesn't deserve it this season and removed himself from consideration. It's hard to accept when you've come to the end of your career, but it still would have been nice to include him as a finalist even if he had no shot at making the roster. His experience as a two-time gold medalist would help the younger guys.

7. C Hassan Whiteside - Miami Heat

Whiteside is an up-and-coming player in the league, and one would think his youth would be welcomed on the roster at this point. If nothing else, it would give him more experience as he prepares for 2020, a year he might actually have a realistic shot at making the final 12-man roster.

6. PG Kyle Lowry - Toronto Raptors

Lowry is one of the most underrated players in the NBA, and he continues to get overlooked by some of the best coaches in the nation. This team is loaded with guards, but his athleticism and ability to control tempo make him a player worthy of a spot in the final 30. Even though he wouldn't have made the final roster, he would've provided a higher level of competition leading up to the next round of roster cuts.

5. PG Derrick Rose - Chicago Bulls

Oh, how far Derrick Rose has fallen in the past five years. He was one of the stars of the team and even an MVP of the league, but now he's just a slightly above average player. Still, it appears he's getting his burst back a bit and could have pushed other players in practice. Who knows, if he was left around long enough, maybe he could've actually competed for a spot.

4. SG Dwyane Wade - Miami Heat

D-Wade is still extremely talented, even if he's becoming frail. Almost nobody has the same competitive fire as Wade which is what this team needs. Since they're already better than everyone, they need someone constantly lighting a fire underneath them to keep them motivated. Even if he didn't make the final roster, the team would've benefited from keeping him around a little longer.

3. SF Paul Millsap - Atlanta Hawks

Millsap gets overlooked by nearly everyone for no apparent reason. He can play inside, knock down mid-range jumpers and is pretty athletic for his size. With all the frontcourt depth on this team, he was a long shot to make the final 12, but not making the final 30 is a travesty. He's better than some of the players left on the roster such as Gordon Hayward, but it appears Team USA is going in a direction where they have a variety of forwards in the mix.

2. PF Chris Bosh - Miami Heat

Bosh is the most talented player to be excluded from the team's list of 30 players. He's still in his prime, but it seems like he may not have gelled well with potential teammates in camp. Still, his size and athleticism should have warranted him a spot in the final 30, and he should've merited serious consideration for the final roster as well.

1. PG Damian Lillard - Portland Trail Blazers

Lillard has that killer instinct every coach loves in a player. That can only take you so far, but Lillard could have ramped up the competition level in camp with some superstars who just go through the motions. Evidently, Team USA wanted to get right down to business and not include players who would strengthen competition in camp.
