Miami Heat Would Be Crazy To Keep Chris Bosh Over 2016 Offseason

The Miami Heat should probably move on from Chris Bosh. They panicked and gave him a max contract when LeBron James bolted, and this left the Houston Rockets up a creek without a paddle. The Heat, meanwhile, have been a middling team in the Eastern Conference ever since, and they could even be eliminated in the first round this postseason depending on their seeding.

Bosh has been diagnosed with dangerous blood clots that are potentially life threatening two seasons in a row, and it might be time for both him and the organization to part ways. There are more important things than basketball, and Bosh is intelligent enough to be an analyst, scout or coach in his life after playing the game. Maybe he should just get a jump-start on that.

Dwyane Wade is in the twilight of his career, and he could choose to play elsewhere if the Heat don’t make the right decisions this summer. He hasn’t completely gelled with Goran Dragic, and Hassan Whiteside has been a chemistry issue as well despite his brilliant contributions on the court. Joe Johnson and Luol Deng give them some great options on the wing, but Wade needs a pick-and-pop power forward to be truly effective as a player.

Bosh might still have some trade value, and the Heat should cash in on that now before it is no longer the case. The Washington Wizards and Sacramento Kings are two teams that could convince themselves into trading for Bosh, and Pat Riley should be on the phone a lot this summer.

The power forward might retire in the offseason and save Miami from making a tough decision, but that isn’t guaranteed at this point. It hurts to admit the reality, but the Heat would be crazy to keep Bosh on board for next season.
