The DePaul Blue Demons do not have the best crop of freshmen coming in for the 2013-14 college basketball season, but it is not a bad group either.

Joining the team will be a four-star, a three-star, a two-star and two JUCO players (according to ESPN). Billy Garrett Jr., the four-star, is actually a top 100 recruit. ESPN ranked him No. 94 for the class of 2013.

Who knows how much playing time any of these players will get and what impact they will have, but this is a pretty solid group for a program that finished last season with an 11-21 record overall and a 2-16 record in the Big East.

As you can see, the Blue Demons did not have a good season last year and who knows how much better they will be in the upcoming one. However, they should improve.

Both Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young will be back and both players averaged 16+ points per game last season. Usually if a team has two scorers like that it would at least compete, but that was clearly not the case with DePaul. Returning players will be huge, though, and adding some talented freshmen will help out that much more.

This team is not going to win the Big East, but it could be somewhat of a surprise in the 2013-14 season. It will help that there will be less elite teams in the conference, but the Big East will still be tough regardless.

It should be an interesting season to say the least and you would think that DePaul would finish with more than two wins in the conference and more than 11 wins overall.
