It took a little time for coach Tommy Amaker to get things going at Harvard when he first took the job seven years ago. Those days are long past, however, as the Crimson are coming off a remarkable season featuring 27 wins and another victory in the NCAA Tournament. More of the same is expected of Harvard in 2014-15 thanks to a roster stocked with both skill and experience. Here are five predictions for the Crimson heading into the new season.

The Crimson have made a habit of knocking off the big boys in recent years and should do so at least once again this season. Overall, Harvard is on a six-game winning streak against Boston College, whom they face on Jan. 14. Other potential opportunities for wins come against Virginia on Dec. 21 and Arizona State on Dec. 28.

Harvard’s starting point guard has already become one the Ivy League’s most dependable playmakers as he enters his junior season. If Chambers can continue to improve his jump-shooting to go along with his career 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, a spot on the all-conference team awaits.

Considering Saunders was named the Ivy League’s top player during his junior season, no one will be surprised if he wins it again as a senior. A versatile performer who stands out on both ends of the court, Saunders averaged 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in 2013-14. Expect even better numbers from him in 2014-15.

2. Harvard Will Win the Ivy League for the 5th Straight Season

The Crimson have made a yearly habit of winning the Ivy League, and there is no reason to think Harvard won’t run their current streak to five straight this season. Simply put, Harvard returns the most complete team in the Ivy League, and it would be surprising if the Crimson don’t run away from the rest of their competitors yet again.

Amaker’s team has advanced to the NCAA Tournament for three straight years, claiming wins over New Mexico and Cincinnati in the Big Dance in their last two appearances. With Harvard returning three starters from last year’s outfit, expect the Crimson to again make some noise nationally once March rolls around.
