Nebraska is officially on their bye week. It definitely has not gone quite as planned, however. Nebraska was supposed to come in and dominate the conference, or so thought the media. Let’s take a quick recap so far this year:
Nebraska vs UTC
The Huskers control this game from start to finish, but defensively, this was not the case. The Mocs were able to move the ball consistently, but were not able to get many points out of it. The score did not reflect how close this game was.
Nebraska vs Fresno State
Nebraska put itself in a big hole early. Fresno State ran the ball straight into this defense with ease. If not for a few big plays by the offense, Fresno State easily could have run away with this one.
Nebraska vs Washington
Washington, like the two previous games, was able to move the ball effectively against the Huskers. The offense was able to score just enough to win.
Nebraska at Wyoming
Dubbed the biggest game in Wyoming history, the Cowboys kept it close for most of the contest. A couple big plays by the offense, and a clock killing drive would propel the Huskers to victory.
Nebraska at Wisconsin
Much not need be said here. A big time opportunity, a big time flop. Taylor Martinez takes heat for 3 interceptions, while the defense also is also being questioned.
Nebraska vs Ohio State
Ohio State, with one of the worst offenses in the nation, comes in and moves the ball all over the Huskers. Their defense also keeps the Husker offense off balanced. Then, the game changing play by Lavonte David, and a Taylor Martinez touchdown two plays later would start the comeback. The Huskers would put the game away for good on a 17 yard run by Rex Burkhead, sending Ohio State home with plenty of questions. The Huskers limp to their bye week looking to regroup and refocus for the second half of the schedule.
