5 Reasons Why The Mario Williams Buffalo Bills Signing Hurts The New England Patriots

Many considered Houston Texans pass rusher Mario Williams the #1 player in free agency on defense.  Williams ended up getting selected #1 overall in the 2006 NFL Draft.

Houston's decision to pass on USC running back Reggie Bush and draft North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams was controversial in 2006.  The Texans decision paid off as Williams ended up being very productive in the early part of his career as a 4-3 right end and a 3-4 right outside linebacker for the Texans.

Williams can play at right end getting by left tackles.  Williams can also line up on the left side winning one on one battles against right tackles with relative ease.  Williams can pass rush in a 4-3 or a 3-4 scheme.  Williams was a sack artist who could register double digit sacks.

Stopping the run is another one of William's specialties.  Some fans nicknamed Williams, "Super" Mario Williams as a reference to the famous Nintendo icon.

Mario Williams agreed to sign a 6 year contract for the Buffalo Bills.  The contract is worth up to 100 million with 50 million in guaranteed money for the Buffalo Bills.

New England was considered one of the frontrunners to land Mario Williams.  This slideshow will examine 5 reasons why the Mario Williams signing will hurt the New England Patriots long term.
