I’m not one to go too crazy over Madden ratings. They really don’t mean a whole heck of a lot in the grand scheme of things, but its interesting to get a perspective on where players are ranked in the minds of people. I was curious when the full running back ratings came out to see where Ahmad Bradshaw of the New York Giants would rate. Not counting fullbacks, he’s the 17th rated running back in the league. Fair or foul?

The three running backs above him are Mike Tolbert, Fred Jackson and Darren Sproles. Right below him are Ryan Matthews and Rashard Mendenhall. To me, the only problem I have is Mike Tolbert above Bradshaw. The guy in fantasy football terms is a touchdown vulture more than an every down back. The most yards he’s ever rushed for is 800 in his career. He’s going to be more of a hybrid kind of back with the Carolina Panthers because they already have Johnathan Stewart and Deangelo Williams. To me if you were asked which you would rather have between Bradshaw and Tolbert, I think more people would pick Bradshaw.

For all of Bradshaw’s injury problems, he still produces on the field. Granted last year wasn’t exactly his best year, but he also missed four games, and the offensive line wasn’t what it was in previous seasons. In the postseason, he stepped his game up like he has in the past and was very productive, averaging about 90 total yards in each postseason game.

I think Madden got the ratings pretty accurately for running backs. Here are where the other Giants running backs stand:

Henry Hynoski: 74 overall

David Wilson: 74 overall

Da’Rel Scott: 63 overall

D.J. Ware: 63 overall

Andre Brown: 62 overall
