Fans have been hearing rumors about the New York Jets selecting a number of players with their first round pick. Now we know that the Jets have selected defensive lineman Quinton Coples.

This means they have addressed their need on the defensive line with the selection. Now the Jets need a Rush outside linebacker, running back, wide receiver, right tackle, and a free safety. I give this pick a B grade because I would have preferred either David DeCastro or Riley Reiff. Coples will play a position similar to the five-technique defensive end position under Rex Ryan.

Ironically I had predicted this pick with my only mock for Rant Sports. Many fans will be disappointed tonight that Melvin Ingram was not selected by the Jets but Coples is a better prospect, at least in my humble opinion.
