In order to be ready for the start of the 2012 season, the New York Mets’ Johan Santana will spend the winter resting instead of pitching in a winter league. This sounds like a no-brainer if it helps Johan Santana deliver some production and usefulness to the New York Mets. Coming off of major shoulder surgery, nobody knows how close Johan Santana can come to returning to his former self, but anything will be better than what he gave the New York Mets in 2011. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Johan Santana will come to Spring Training and the New York Mets will get some action out of the $50+ million they still have invested in the former ace.
