Video: Rangers And Devils Brawl On Opening Faceoff
There might not be better rivalries than the ones we see all over the Atlantic Division. With the exception of the Islanders, who can’t really push anyone around, the top four teams in the division don’t hold back their hatred when playing each other.
The Rangers and Devils proved that one on Monday night, when they got into a nice little brawl off of the opening faceoff.
As soon as the puck dropped, three players from either side paired off and went to town. Stu Bickel fought Ryan Carter, Mike Rupp exchanged punches with Eric Boulton, and Brandon Prust went with Cam Janssen. Oddly enough, the only game misconduct handed out was to Bryce Salvador, who tried to pull Bickel off of Carter.
The refs and the ice crew both went to work early, with the refs handing out a boatload of penalty minutes and the ice crew having to clean Ryan Carter’s blood off the ice.
John Tortorella also had a few words Devils head coach Peter DeBoer. Have to think that one would have been very ugly, in Torts’ favor of course.
