The New York Yankees have granted the Los Angeles Angels permission to interview scouting directors Damon Oppenheimer and Billy Eppler for their vacant general manager position.  This is not the first time that the New York Yankees have been approached about executives in their front office.  Last season the Arizona Diamondbacks wanted to interview Oppenheimer for their vacant GM position, but the New York Yankees denied permission.  Selfishly, I don’t want Oppenheimer or Eppler hired away from the New York Yankees.  If that means remaining on the rung that they currently stand on, so be it.  Like I said, that is selfish, but its okay because I’m not the one making the decision.  I can sit at my house and be as selfish as I want because I’m not in a position to impact someone’s life the way Brian Cashman is.  Having someone hired from your staff has to be one of the biggest compliments that a GM or any other top dog can receive.  Even though I would be disappointed to see a key member of the New York Yankees’ front office calling the shots in LA – or anywhere else for that matter – I would be happy to know that they’re doing something right by not only producing talent on the field, but producing talent in the front office as well.
