Why does Antonio Bryant need more money from the Bengals?

The agent of former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Antonio Bryant, Lamont Smith, has filed a grievance against the team, claiming they still owe his client an additional $3.1 million. According ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Smith claims the Bengals owe Bryant $1.55 from base salary and $1.55 million for roster bonus. Bryant has already been paid just under $8 million from Cincinnati after deciding to terminate his contract on August 29. He signed a four-year deal with the team back in March, but only practiced on the first day of training camp because of his knee—which bothered him throughout the 2009 season.
