It appears the Atlanta Falcons are going to get kicked while they’re down. Unfortunate reports are coming out of Atlanta today that Julio Jones might be done for the season with a foot injury. The wide receiver was injured in the team’s loss on MNF to the New York Jets, but at the time it didn’t seem serious. Jones was shown on the sidelines trying to walk off the injury and even returned to the game late in the fourth quarter.

As always, the team is seeking a second opinion but the initial diagnosis has him missing the rest of 2013. It’s unclear exactly what type of foot injury the WR has, but you have to think it could possibly be a lisfranc-related.

So with this news, things have gone from really bad to worst-case-scenario for the Falcons. The team is reeling after starting the season 1-4 and the playoffs already seemed out of reach. Now with Jones out at least for an extended period of time and the fact that Roddy White is still not himself with a high ankle sprain, this could become a lost season for Atlanta.

The only good news is that the team has a bye in week six and it will give them time to regroup following this devastating diagnosis. The Falcons will have to hope that White can get back to near full strength and that Steven Jackson can make his return following three straight games on the shelf.
