A week has gone by since the Seattle Seahawks traded Percy Harvin away to the New York Jets. While Harvin is a talented player, his inability to produce for the Seahawks and his locker room concerns made him expendable. Good teams make smart and difficult decisions. Trading away Harvin was most certainly a good move for the Seahawks. Now, with the trade deadline just a week away, the Seahawks should get rid of another talented offensive player, but the basis for doing so is completely different.
Robert Turbin, a third-year player out of Utah State, has a ton of talent. Unfortunately, the Seahawks have two extremely talented running backs in Marshawn Lynch and rookie Christine Michael. Obviously, Lynch is one of the best backs in the NFL and his importance to this team is second-to-none. Over the past few weeks, the Seahawks have gotten away from the ground game, but with their improved offensive line play this season, the Seahawks will likely get back to read option with Lynch and Russell Wilson running the show over the course of the rest of the season.
There are a ton of teams in the NFL in dire need of a running back. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers are just two teams in the market for an upgrade at the position. Given his field vision and his willingness to pack a punch, Turbin should have some interest from teams around the league. Sometimes, less is more in the NFL, and the Seahawks need to make the smart decision and trade away the talented back.
