Running back DeMarco Murray, the NFL‘s leading rusher, set a record on Sunday with his seventh-straight 100-yard game to open the season. The feat broke Hall of Famer Jim Brown’s 56-year-old record for consecutive 100-yard games to start a season.

Murray, who has already rushed for 913 yards, rightly shares the spotlight with his offensive line in media interviews. This week, he went one better and showed his respect for the five starters on the O-line by rewarding their outstanding efforts with brand new iMacs.

Priced at around $1,300 apiece, the iMacs were given to Tyron Smith, Doug Free, Zack Martin, Travis Frederick and Ron Leary, the front five responsible for opening those gaping holes Murray has been dashing through to carve up opposing defenses. Recognizing the accomplishments of the O-line at the midway point in the season is certain to add to team chemistry. Appreciative running backs and quarterbacks generally wait until the end of the year to show their appreciation to the often-overlooked men in the trenches.

Murray is on pace to rush for over 2,000 yards this season and is in a contract year. Regardless of what transpires the rest of the way for the surging Dallas Cowboys, Murray’s generous gesture of appreciation is a prime example of taking care of your own. If he continues at the torrid pace that he’s on, Murray should be handsomely rewarded for his historic season with a lucrative contract. The gifts that follow after that deal may be talked about for years to come.
