Chicago Bears’ Game Against New England Patriots Could Make Or Break Season

Considering that the Chicago Bears vaulting past both the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers is extremely unlikely, even with both Detroit games to play, the wild-card rises in significance. The problem there is the lineup of teams ahead of the Bears simply keeps growing.

In the NFC East, both the Dallas Cowboys (6-1) and Philadelphia Eagles (5-1) keep winning. The Bears are three games behind either of those in the loss column right now.

The Lions or Packers must be overtaken by a Bears team that has lost three of its last four by an average of more than 10 points.

In the NFC West, the Seattle Seahawks are 3-3, which is still ahead of the Bears, and the San Francisco 49ers were still 4-3 even after a road loss to the AFC powerhouse Denver Broncos. The problem there is neither of those teams — over which the Bears have a head-to-head edge on the 49ers — are leading the division. The lead dog there is the Arizona Cardinals (5-1), with the 49ers and Seahawks suddenly in the wild-card discussion from which the Bears are increasingly fading, weekly.

The Bears now have to go into Gillette Stadium on Sunday to try and beat the New England Patriots. Tom Brady is 4-0 in his career against the Bears. The Bears will most likely be with star rookie corner back Kyle Fuller, as he will try to play through a broken hand. Another thing that should scare the Bears going into Sunday’s game is the Patriots are the only team in the NFL to not have given up a pass play over 40 yards. The Patriots are also going into Sunday’s game on a 12-game win streak while playing against the NFC North. Sunday will be a tall task for Chicago.

After this week, the Bears will go on their bye week. After that they will have to go to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. Last time, that didn’t go too well for the Bears. Rodgers tore them apart. A 3-6 record is not something the Bears can come back from. They need to win one, if not two of these upcoming games to remain in the discussion of the wild card picture. Otherwise, it looks like this Bears season is over.
