When you think of the best tight ends in the NFL, the names Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski are probably the first that come to mind. Graham and Gronkowski have been absolutely dominant, and those two alone have revolutionized the position. With Gronkowski coming back healthy this season, many have been quick to give him the edge over Graham when it comes to who is the best tight end in the NFL, but Graham is just plain better. Nothing has changed, and Graham is still the best tight end in the league.

In terms of pure athletic ability, few at the position in the history of the NFL have been better. Graham is simply bigger and faster than anyone else on the field, and his athletic talent is a huge reason why he has dominated since entering the league. With tremendous speed, strength and agility, Graham gets it done as both a weapon across the middle and as a vertical threat. As a former basketball player, Graham goes up and gets the ball at its highest point on a consistent basis, and his route-running has improved greatly during his time in the NFL.

All in all, despite Gronkowski’s return this season, Jimmy Graham is still the best tight end in the league today. Simply put, nobody even comes close to matching Graham’s tremendous talent, and in an offense that prominently features him, Graham puts up scary numbers. This is easy — Graham holds the edge for the title of NFL’s best tight end.
