Pass Rush Is Key To New York Jets’ Week 10 Win

It’s been 61 days since the New York Jets won a game — take a moment to let that sink in. To make matters worse, that win came against the worst team in the NFL in the Oakland Raiders. While the Jets’ season is down the drain already, that doesn’t mean this team doesn’t want to stay competitive. Players on the roster are playing for their jobs, and the Jets have to make decisions regarding their future for next year.

In Week 10, the Jets will get a red-hot Pittsburgh Steelers team that has been streaking of late because of the immaculate play of Ben Roethlisberger. In the past two games alone, Roethlisberger has thrown for 862 yards and 12 touchdowns. Scarily enough, “Big Ben” has a chance to keep his ridiculous play up on Sunday, as he will be going against a secondary that is ranked 32nd in terms of points allowed to opposing fantasy quarterbacks. With Dee Milliner out for the season, the Jets have been starting backup cornerbacks in Antonio Allen and Darrin Walls. That being said, the Jets still possess one of the league’s best pass rush.

Even though their secondary is atrocious, the Jets have some excellent players across their defensive line. Sheldon Richardson, Damon Harrison and Muhammed Wilkerson make up one of the best 3-4 defensive lines in the league. Not to mention Calvin Pace and Quinton Coples are on the outside, and it is easy to see why the Jets are one of the best teams in the league and stopping the run. To make up for their secondary, this defense will need to get pressure on Roethlisberger. Obviously, Big Ben is notorious for standing tall in the pocket and eluding pass rushers, but Pittsburgh’s offensive line is shaky, to say the least. Head coach and defensive coordinator Rex Ryan needs to come up with a brilliant game plan for the Jets to win this game.
