The old era of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady will have to come to an end one day soon. When that day does come, a new era will begin with Andrew Luck headlining the next group of elite quarterbacks in the NFL. Right out of college Luck was expected to be a great quarterback, but no one expected it to happen so fast. Now, only in his third year and at the young age of 25, Luck should be the top name discussed when it comes to winning the NFL MVP award.

It’s crazy what Luck has accomplished in only 13 weeks this season. Right now, he has 34 passing touchdowns, two rushing and total of 4,011 yards passing. For a third-year player to be that polished, that early in his career is crazy, and Luck is only going to get better as his career progresses.

Some may point to Aaron Rodgers and call him the MVP so far in the season, but Luck means more to the Indianapolis Colts than Rodgers does to the Green Bay Packers. With a ridiculous 32-to-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio, there is no denying that Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but Rodgers has a better supporting cast than Luck. The Colts’ running game is not as solid as the Packers, and Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb may be the best one-two wide receiver tandem in the league.

Breaking down two elite quarterbacks and their fight for one MVP crown is not an easy thing to do. Personally, I am blown away by Luck and his ability to lead the Colts to an 8-4 record and first place position in the AFC South.

Nothing against Rodgers, but Luck did not have time to sit and learn the game from the sidelines like Rodgers did behind Brett Favre.  Luck was thrown into the fire right away, and he took a franchise on the brink of a downfall after Manning left and turned them into something great. Luck is a once in a lifetime player, and I think he deserves the MVP award at the end of the season. If Rodgers does win the award I totally understand it, but if I had a say in the matter, I would give my vote to Luck.
