Despite the Green Bay Packers getting ready for a divisional round playoff matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, it’s never too early to start looking ahead to next season. The Packers have several difficult decisions to make regarding their 11 unrestricted and three restricted free agents. Of the 14 free agents, these are the five the Packers must re-sign in 2015.

Even though fullback John Kuhn was elected to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career in 2014, it still may seem surprising to see his name on this list. With that said, Kuhn is a huge part of Green Bay’s success behind the scenes. He isn’t much of a threat in the run game anymore, unless it’s a short-down situation. But, he’s a tremendous asset on special teams and in protecting Aaron Rodgers in pass blocking.

Davon House was on pace for a career year, but unfortunately, a shoulder injury cost him the last three games of the season. Still, House proved that he’s worth a continued spot on the roster with his stellar play. Every time he was on the field, he was defending passes at an outstanding level. In fact, it was he who began to shut down Falcons’ Julio Jones after no one else could. Letting House walk in free agency would be a massive mistake.

Green Bay’s current offensive line is the best of the Aaron Rodgers Era. To break up the band, which is what would happen if right tackle Bryan Bulaga left in free agency, would have the potential to cost the Packers dearly. The difference between Rodgers being protected is night and day when Bulaga is in the lineup. No further evidence is necessary than what happens to the pass and run game when he’s out with an injury.

Tramon Williams went from trying to secure a roster spot to becoming a starter to being a postseason hero to lining up as the veteran defensive back in a span of eight years. He’s the heart and soul of Green Bay’s secondary, which is something the Packers can’t lose in 2015, especially since they have been so good at defending the pass. Even though Green Bay has got deeper at defensive back, losing Williams would be detrimental.

Randall Cobb doesn’t want to play anywhere else other than Green Bay. With that said, he will leave if the Packers aren’t willing to pay up. Cobb set career highs in targets (126), receptions (91), receiving yards (1,287), touchdowns (12) and yards from scrimmage (1,324), which means he’s deserving of a nice payday. It will be interesting to see how the Packers structure his contract, especially since everyone knows they can’t afford to lose him.
