The Denver Broncos want Peyton Manning back. Peyton Manning wants to play for the Denver Broncos. As a result, the sides are doing everything in their power to make this one work.

If a pay-cut is what the Broncos want, then so be it. This is smart on Manning’s part because the team will now have more money to spend during free agency. That is kind of important considering the team is looking to sign Demaryius Thomas long-term.
Although Manning is certainly worth the money, he doesn’t need it. Last time we checked, the quarterback had a pretty big wallet.
Manning is coming off a season in which he threw for 4,727 yards and 39 touchdowns. The Broncos weren’t too shabby either. Denver finished with a 12-4 record during the regular season. Unfortunately, Manning & Co. couldn’t make a run in the playoffs, and their season was cut short against the Indianapolis Colts.
Manning is still a top QB in this league, but the time for him to win another Super Bowl is running out — that is a huge understatement. If taking less money is what the team needs to do to make another run at a title, then Manning would be crazy to not take less money.
It is never an ideal situation, but Manning’s bank account is doing just fine. Now, it is time for Denver to do work in free agency.
