5 Under-the-Radar NFL Free Agents Kansas City Chiefs Should Sign

Despite having a tight budget after agreeing on terms with Jeremy Maclin, the Kansas City Chiefs are far from done with free agency. GM John Dorsey is particularly skilled at finding under-the-radar, affordable talent. Here are five low-key free agents he should keep an eye on.

Dorsey was part of the crew that drafted Bishop with the Green Bay Packers. His career was derailed by a season-ending hamstring injury in 2012, then an ACL tear in 2013. Kansas City is the perfect spot for Bishop to try to get back on track. The team needs depth at inside linebacker, and Bishop could likely be added with a minimum commitment.

The Chiefs have a long history of signing San Francisco 49ers leftovers. Cook was solid in a small sample size last season before being placed on injured reserve after six games. At 6-foot-2, he's got the length defensive coordinator Bob Sutton likes.

After the Oakland Raiders snagged Rodney Hudson with a ridiculous five-year, $44.5 million contract, the Chiefs' biggest hole got even bigger. Satele was a very nice surprise for the Miami Dolphins last season, starting all 16 games after Mike Pouncey went down with an injury. With Pouncey returning, KC could probably offer Satele a larger role than Miami.

Pollard's started his career in KC, and he had a lasting affect on the team. When he put down Tom Brady for the season in 2008, Matt Cassel got his opportunity. That led to former Chiefs GM Scott Pioli offering Cassel a six-year $63 million deal that did not work out well. Pollard can come back and make up for it. He is especially strong at stopping the run, an area in which the Chiefs needed help last season.

With Dwayne Bowe likely on his way out, another veteran presence will be useful. Avant may not break a lot of big plays, but his hands are very reliable. Kansas City has wisely shown interest in bringing him back, and it shouldn't cost much to do so.
