Grading the Kansas City Chiefs' Top 5 Free Agency Decisions In 2015

The Kansas City Chiefs have done well in free agency so far, especially considering their salary cap concerns heading into it. They have filled some key holes and brought back valuable players to help them get to the next level in 2015. Here's how their top five decisions grade out.

The Chiefs were able to re-sign Parker, who has proven that he can provide their defense with depth and versatility, filling in at both safety and cornerback. He had a bit of an up-and-down season in 2014, but with Eric Berry's status unknown, Parker will be expected to step up big next season.

Branch has proven his consistency at safety for the Oakland Raiders, and will need to do the same in Kansas City next season. With the Chiefs' strong pass rush, Branch will have an abundance of opportunities for takeaways in 2015 as long as he can stay healthy.

The Chiefs needed help on their offensive line, and signing Fanaika is a huge step in the right direction. He's coming off an impressive 2014 season, only allowing one sack, and is a huge upgrade at right guard over Zach Fulton.

As I mentioned, the Chiefs were desperate for productive offensive linemen this offseason. Grubbs is a two-time Pro Bowler who has allowed an average of just two to three sacks per year in his career. Alex Smith should feel much more confident heading into the 2015 season with the addition of these solid guards to protect him.

The Chiefs' wide receivers failed to produce in 2014. The addition of Maclin, who is a No. 1 receiver in my eyes, will improve the passing game immensely. It also helps that he is familiar with Andy Reid, who he played for in Philadelphia for four years. This is a smart and exciting move for the Chiefs.
