The Indianapolis Colts are close to becoming the team to beat in the AFC. If they want to get there, they must find ways to defeat the New England Patriots, as well as other teams that are capable of physically overpowering them. Here are five players the Colts should target in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Wide receiver isn’t the most pressing need for the Colts, but depth is a concern. Bringing Perriman into the fold would be a great fit for both parties. The Colts could get an explosive, young 6-foot-2, 212-pound target for Andrew Luck. Perriman is still a bit of a raw prospect, but he would get the chance to learn under Andre Johnson, who has a similar build and has been one of the league's best receivers over the last decade.

The Colts struggled mightily covering tight ends in 2014, and they need to add some athleticism at the inside linebacker position. Incumbent starters D’Qwell Jackson and Jerrell Freeman are solid, but neither will ever be known as super athletes who can become elite cover linebackers. Kendricks, 6-foot, 232 pounds, is an ultra-athletic linebacker who is a fierce hitter. He also possesses the kind of movement skills the Colts covet.

The Colts are set at left tackle with Anthony Castonzo improving into a reliable starter. What the Colts need is depth and a possible challenger to battle Gosder Cherilus for the starting spot at right tackle. At 6-foot-5, 309 pounds, Clemmings is a bit of a project after he switched to right tackle from defensive end for Pitt. Clemmings has the talent to be a dominant pro, but he will need to improve his technique.

2. Landon Collins, S, Alabama

It seems like I have Collins going to 10 different teams, but the Colts are another team that could desperately use a three-down physical presence to anchor the position. Mike Adams and Delano Howell are the projected starters, with Colt Anderson and Dewey McDonald providing depth. None have the ability that Collins, 6-foot, 228 pounds, possesses. The Alabama star is a prototypical safety who is a tone-setting hitter and can also cover.

I’m sure the Colts are tired of getting run over by the Patriots every year. Adding a stout, run-stuffing nose tackle should be priority No. 1 entering the draft. Right now the Colts have fifth-round picks Josh Chapman and Montori Hughes as their top two nose tackles. They need to bring in some help, and Phillips is a massive (6-foot-5, 329-pound) tackle who can eat up blockers while allowing linebackers to run free and make tackles.
