2015 NFL Draft: Kansas City Chiefs' 5 Biggest Needs After Free Agency

The Kansas City Chiefs have done very well this offseason with a tough salary cap situation. KC managed to re-sign DB Ron Parker while also adding WR Jeremy Maclin, S Tyvon Branch, G Ben Grubbs and G Paul Fanaika. That's a pretty nice haul for a team that was over the cap a few days before free agency opened. Regardless, the team still has plenty of holes to fill through the NFL Draft.

With Anthony Fasano gone, the Chiefs will need more depth at tight end. Travis Kelce has an injury history, and Demetrius Harris is unproven. Kansas City used two-tight-end sets frequently last season. To keep that up, the team will need another quality tight end.

In a 3-4 scheme, the Chiefs could use more than Derrick Johnson, Josh Mauga and James-Michael Johnson at inside linebacker. They're not a bad group, but they could be better. All three of their contracts are up after this season.

Ron Parker performed much better at safety than cornerback last season. If he stays at safety, the Chiefs will definitely need more bodies at corner. Sean Smith is the team's only proven commodity at the position. Phillip Gaines looked very good as a rookie last season, but the sample size wasn't very big.

The Chiefs were absolutely terrible in pass protection last season. To make things worse, Rodney Hudson has left for the Oakland Raiders. On the bright side, Jeff Allen will be back from injury, and the team added proven vets Ben Grubbs and Paul Fanaika. KC still needs more solid answers at center and right tackle. Bringing in some quality young talent to compete for those jobs is definitely in the team's best interest.

Jeremy Maclin is a nice upgrade from the departed Dwayne Bowe, but that bump alone isn't enough to bring the receiving corps where it needs to be. The 2015 NFL Draft is loaded with talented wide receivers. The front office would be foolish to ignore the position completely as it did last in last years draft. There could be an uprising from KC fans if a first or second round pick isn't used on a wideout.
