Grading The Texans’ 2012 Draft Class

In the days leading up to the 2015 NFL Draft, I will grade each draft pick that the Houston Texans have made from 2002 until 2014. Here now are the grades for each pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

1st Round (No. 26 Overall): Whitney Mercilus, OLB, Illinois

Mercilus has been a solid outside linebacker for the Texans. In three seasons, he has played in all but one game and has 18 sacks.

Grade: B

3rd Round (No. 68 Overall): DeVier Posey, WR, Ohio State

In three seasons, DeVier Posey has just 22 receptions for 272 yards and zero touchdowns.

Brooks has developed into an outstanding guard for the Texans. In the past two seasons, he has started in all but two games.

In his first two seasons, Jones only started 11 of 32 games, but last season, he started all 16 at left guard. This season, Jones is expected to be the starting center.

Martin has been used primarily as a a returner for the Texans in his three seasons. His career statistics include one punt return touchdown and 38 receptions for 416 yards and three touchdowns.

Playing opposite J.J. Watt, Crick became a quality 3-4 defensive end in 2014. Crick recorded the first three and a half sacks of his career last year, and he also had 56 combined tackles.

Bullock is a good NFL kicker, but he was overdrafted in the fifth round. In three seasons, Bullock has made 56-of-70 field goal attempts.
