The Dallas Cowboys added what most experts believe to be three first-round talents in the 2015 NFL Draft. They drafted cornerback Byron Jones with the No. 27 pick, Randy Gregory with the No. 60 pick, and agreed to sign former LSU offensive tackle La’El collins as an undrafted free agent on Thursday.

Now, it looks like the Cowboys might not be done adding talent this offseason. Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones said on Friday he would consider trading away the team’s 2016 first-round pick to acquire an elite running back or defensive player.

“I’d be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now, with where we are with Tony Romo, his career and where we are with what we’ve put together, it’s a good time to go for it,” Jones said in an interview with KRLD-FM.

Romo is 35 years old, and while he had an incredible season in 2014, he likely only has a couple seasons left as an elite quarterback. The Cowboys figure to once again be one of the best teams in the NFL in 2015 and sacrificing a piece of the future to improve their chances to win right away is a risk worth taking.

The Minnesota Vikings continue to say they won’t trade star running back Adrian Peterson, but we all know that they’re willing to listen to offers and are open to potentially trading him. Dallas lost DeMarco Murray in free agency and replaced him with Darren McFadden, but Peterson would without a doubt take their offense to the next level. Even at 30, Peterson might still be the best running back in football, and losing next year’s first-round pick wouldn’t matter if Dallas brings home the Lombardi Trophy next February.
