Last week against the St. Louis Rams, Reggie Bush was shoved out of bounds and his momentum carried him onto a concrete sidewalk that surrounds the field at the Edward Jones Dome. In case you’ve never played football, cleats and concrete don’t mix, and Bush ended up slipping and tearing the MCL in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the 2015 NFL Season after surgery.

As a result, Bush has reportedly hired a lawyer, and will sue the city of St. Louis, who owns and operates the Edward Jones Dome.

Bush will be a 31-year-old running back if he returns next season, which makes this injury potentially career-threatening. His case will likely be centered around gross negligence as the sidewalk is entirely too close to the field, and it’s rather shocking that we haven’t had something like this happen before. Some may say that with the amount of money Bush has made over his career that it’s petty of him to go after money, but he’s getting hit right in the pocket by something that was out of his control.

This case could potentially have an impact on the Rams moving to Los Angeles. It’s going to require some remodeling to fix that sidewalk, but owner Stan Kroenke might use this as a ploy to get his team out of St. Louis, where his team ranks last in home attendance in the NFL.
