With a benching and now a season-ending shoulder injury that apparently happened several weeks ago, the San Franciso 49ers and quarterback Colin Kaepernick are headed for a potentially messy divorce during the offseason. Here are five teams that should have some interest in Kaepernick looking toward 2016.

5. Buffalo Bills

Former 49ers' offensive coordinator Greg Roman holds the same post in Buffalo right now. Depending on how committed the Bills are to Tyrod Taylor as their starting quarterback for 2016, Kaepernick would be a perceived upgrade to the depth chart at minimum.

4. Cleveland Browns

The Browns may be facing another reset at quarterback next year, depending on how Johnny Manziel finishes this season and if any changes come on the front office or coaching fronts. Cleveland's dysfunctional organization wouldn't be a great landing spot for Kaepernick in the bigger picture, but if they need a quarterback an opportunity to start could come.

3. New York Jets

The Jets don't have a starting quarterback locked down for next season, though there has been some speculation about signing Ryan Fitzpatrick to a contract extension. Kaepernick would at least be a more viable backup option than Geno Smith, in theory, and quarterbacks have generally had success in offensive coordinator Chan Gailey's system.

2. Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia is not committed to a now-injured Sam Bradford beyond this season, and Mark Sanchez is no long-term answer. Kaepernick seems like a good fit for Chip Kelly's offense, assuming the Eagles' head coach sticks around or is not fired after the season.

1. St. Louis Rams

The Rams will have to pay Nick Foles a $6 million roster bonus in 2016, even if they decide to cut him early in the league year. Whatever direction they go with Foles, St. Louis needs to find another viable option to start under center and Kaepernick can provide that.
