5 Reasons Why the Houston Texans Won’t Win Super Bowl 50

There are many reasons why the Houston Texans will not win Super Bowl 50, but these are the five most glaring.

5. Run Attack Is Substandard

If the Houston Texans had a healthy Arian Foster for their playoff run, they would have somewhat of a chance coupled with their stingy defense. Alfred Blue's done a solid job of moving the chains in Foster's absence, but he doesn't intimidate anyone and rarely hits paydirt. In the postseason, you simply need more than the Texans have in the backfield.

4. Brian Hoyer Is A Game Manager

Brian Hoyer has done a decent job for the Houston Texans this season, but he's not the type of quarterback who can take over a game, especially in the playoffs against superb defensive competition. Without a lights-out run attack, Hoyer isn't capable of leading the Texans to a Super Bowl victory.

3. Bill O'Brien Is Making His First Postseason Appearance As A Head Coach

Bill O'Brien deserves a ton of credit for leading Houston through the fog and into the playoffs after a brutal start to the season -- we all know this to be the case. However, he's done nothing to indicate he's capable of leading a team with so many flaws past teams like the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots. O'Brien might lead the Texans to a Super Bowl one day, but it won't be Super Bowl 50.

2. Defense Is Good, But Not Great

Houston's defense has looked impregnable at times this season, but has also spit the bit on quite a few occasions. The Texans are right around league average in passing and receiving touchdowns allowed, which is far from impressive. Without a high-octane offense, the Texans need a better defensive effort than their unit is capable of giving them during a Super Bowl run.

1. Roster Just Isn't Good Enough

Outside of J.J. Watt and DeAndre Hopkins, the Texans don't have many elite players. Their roster is solid, but far from overwhelming. With a few dynamic additions over the offseason, Houston might have a chance next season. But keep in mind the Texans went 9-7 in a horrible division to get to the playoffs, and looked like a losing team for most of the campaign. Houston simply isn't capable of getting it done.
