The New York Jets had a strong offseason last year, and built a talented roster that was in the mix for one of the last playoff spots. They had an impressive offense led by some very good skill position players, as well as getting a career year out of a journeyman at quarterback. They signed some stars at defensive back, but it was their defensive line who proved to be dominant. This year, they hope to make enough improvement to get back to the playoffs, and drafting a solid player in the first round will go a long way.
The Jets should be set at wide receiver and quarterback as long as they can bring back Ryan Fitzpatrick. They have some good defensive backs, and a lot of talent along their defensive line. Their main needs include getting more talent at linebacker, improving their offensive line, and potentially finding another running back.
Noah Spence has had his fair share of off-the-field issues, and a poor combine will likely see him fall in the draft. Luckily for the Jets, this means that there is a chance that he will still be there when it is their turn to pick. Spence would give the team a talented young player capable of moving to outside linebacker, where he could be a big asset for their defense. He would likely see plenty of opportunities to rush the quarterback, especially with offenses having to focus on the other elite pass-rushers on the team. He will have to prove that he can drop back in coverage, but he is athletic enough to improve in that area.
The Jets are talented enough to be a playoff contender next season, but they can definitely use another playmaker on defense. Last year proved how important it is to get consistent pressure on the quarterback, and the Jets can field a dominant defense next year. Spence would be a good fit for the team, and they have the coaching staff to get the most out of his talent.
