After what seemed like a down year in 2015, former San Francisco 49ers receiver Anquan Boldin is a free agent and is looking for a new team. He delayed his free agent visits until Tuesday when he visited the Washington Redskins.

The Redskins’ interest in Boldin makes a lot of sense. With DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon on the outside, Boldin would have a lot of room to work along with tight end Jordan Reed, in the middle of the field. Having that type of security blanket, especially on third downs, would be huge for quarterback Kirk Cousins.
At 35 years old, Boldin still put up 69 catches for 789 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games in 2015 despite catching passes from Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert. While those numbers probably won’t improve if he were to sign with the Redskins because of the other weapons on the offense, he would be able to add a reliable pair of hands and a leader to an already solid group.
