The 2016 NFL Draft is officially in the books which means there’s no better time to look ahead to the 2017 NFL Draft. I’ve compiled a way-too-early first-round mock draft using the current odds to win Super Bowl LI according to Bovada Sportsbook to determine the draft order.
1. Cleveland Browns: QB Deshaun Watson, Clemson
Getty ImagesWatson is the top quarterback in the 2017 draft class. He's a ridiculous athlete, but also a very accurate passer with a cannon and the Browns will likely be looking for a franchise quarterback unless Cody Kessler or Robert Griffin III surprise.
2. Tennessee Titans: WR Juju Smith-Schuster, USC
Getty ImagesThe Titans had a tremendous 2016 draft, but Vegas still doesn't believe it will transfer to wins. While they addressed many needs this year, the Titans still need a No. 1 receiver and Smith-Schuster is an absolute beast.
3. San Francisco 49ers: QB Brad Kaaya, Miami
Getty ImagesThe San Francisco 49ers likely would've selected a quarterback in this year's draft had the Rams and Eagles not traded up. It may end up working out better for the team as Kaaya is much more talented than either Jared Goff or Carson Wentz.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: DE Myles Garrett, Texas A&M
Getty ImagesGarrett would be an amazing upgrade for the team's lacking pass rush. With Garrett and Noah Spence outside, and Gerald McCoy inside, the Buccaneers would have one of the most feared defensive lines in football.
5. New Orleans Saints: DE Derek Barnett, Tennessee
Getty ImagesThe Saints failed to significantly upgrade their pass rush in the 2016 draft and it could come back to bite them. Barnett recorded 10 sacks as a sophomore in 2015 and looks to be one of the best pure pass rushers in college football.
6. Detroit Lions: RB Leonard Fournette, LSU
Getty ImagesThe Lions have lacked a running game for years, and while a big part of it is the poor play of the offensive line, the running backs have also been lacking. Adding Fournette would turn the Lions' offense into one of the best in the NFL.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars: CB Jalen Tabor, Florida
Getty ImagesThe Jaguars used the 2016 NFL Draft to drastically improve their defense. Jalen Ramsey will be a game-changer at safety and Myles Jack might be the biggest steal in the draft. The defense still lacks a shutdown corner which is why Tabor is the pick.
8. San Diego Chargers: T Cam Robinson, Alabama
Getty ImagesThe Chargers questionably selected DE Joey Bosa with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 draft when they had their choice of Ronnie Stanley or Laremy Tunsil to improve their struggling offensive line. Tackle will be a glaring need next season.
9. Miami Dolphins: DE Charles Harris, Missouri
Getty ImagesThe Dolphins just re-signed Cameron Wake to a two-year deal, but he's 34 years old and Olivier Vernon just departed for New York. That leaves the Dolphins pass rush lacking and would make Harris a solid fit.
10. Cleveland Browns: CB Desmond King, Iowa
Getty ImagesThis is the Browns' second pick of the first round that they acquired in the trade with the Eagles prior to the 2016 draft. The depth chart at corner behind Joe Haden is severely lacking and King would give the Browns two shutdown corners.
11. Tennessee Titans: CB Adoree Jackson, USC
Getty ImagesJackson is a jack-of-all-trades. He's played prominently at corner, wide receiver and kick returner throughout his college career and would give the Titans a great corner plus a tremendous playmaker on special teams.
12. Chicago Bears: QB Chad Kelly, Ole Miss
Getty ImagesJay Cutler had quite possibly the best season of his career in 2015, but offensive coordinator Adam Gase has departed to become head coach of the Dolphins. If Cutler has another poor season, expect the Bears to look for a quarterback in 2017.
13. Atlanta Falcons: DE Jonathan Allen, Alabama
Getty ImagesThe Falcons failed to address a pass rush that only recorded an NFL-low 19 sacks in 2015. If the team doesn't get more pressure in 2016, expect defensive end to be the first-round focus for general manager Thomas Dimitroff.
14. Buffalo Bills: WR Malachi Dupre, LSU
Getty ImagesThe Bills need to give Tyrod Taylor, or whoever they decide to play at quarterback after next season, more weapons. Dupre could very easily be the best wide receiver in the country, but he doesn't have a quarterback who can get him the ball.
15. Washington Redskins: LB Reuben Foster, Alabama
Getty ImagesEarly in the pre-draft process, many thought the Redskins would look to draft Reggie Ragland to help shore up the linebacker corps, but they chose to get a playmaker in Josh Doctson. Foster is a beast on the field and a tremendous leader.
16. New York Jets: DE/LB Devonte Fields, Louisville
Getty ImagesNo one knows what's going to happen with Muhammad Wilkerson or Sheldon Richardson so the Jets need to have a plan in place to prepare for their possible departures. Fields is one of the best edge rushers in the 2017 draft class.
17. Baltimore Ravens: DT Malik McDowell, Michigan State
Getty ImagesThe Ravens should be battling for a playoff spot in 2016 after a dismal 2015 season. There truly aren't a lot of holes on the roster, but adding a player like McDowell would give the defense a versatile player along the defensive line.
18. Houston Texans: RB Dalvin Cook, Florida State
Getty ImagesThe Texans went out and got new starting quarterback Brock Osweiler all kinds of weapons in the 2016 draft, but I'm not sure if Alfred Blue and Tyler Ervin will get the job done at running back. Adding Cook would make the offense dynamic.
19. Oakland Raiders: S Jabrill Peppers, Michigan
Getty ImagesAlthough the Raiders took Karl Joseph in the first round of this year's draft, Peppers is the type of hybrid player who would be perfect for the Raiders' defense. He can play linebacker or safety and can defend tight ends or receivers.
20. New York Giants: T Roderick Johnson, Florida State
Getty ImagesThe right side of the Giants' offensive line could use an upgrade and Johnson is one of the best tackle prospects in next year's draft. Expect the team to spend their first-round pick in the trenches.
21. Kansas City Chiefs: WR K.D. Cannon, Baylor
Getty ImagesBaylor has become wide receiver U over the last few years and Cannon is the next one in the bunch. The Chiefs need a receiver opposite of Jeremy Maclin to take some of the double teams away.
22. Indianapolis Colts: RB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford
Getty ImagesThe Colts have been lacking at the running back position for years and McCaffrey could be the long-term answer. There's nothing he can't do on the field and the threat to take any touch to the house would be a huge asset for the Colts.
23. Dallas Cowboys: S Jamal Adams, LSU
Getty ImagesIt will be interesting to see how Byron Jones handles the move to safety in 2015. If he can show the ability to stick, then possibly the Cowboys look elsewhere, but Adams is a future Pro Bowler in this league.
24. Minnesota Vikings: TE O.J. Howard, Alabama
Getty ImagesThe Vikings need more playmakers. Adding Laquon Treadwell should help Teddy Bridgewater in 2016, but it still may not be enough. Kyle Rudolph is a fine tight end, but he doesn't have the ability to stretch the field like Howard can.
25. Cincinnati Bengals: S Eddie Jackson, Alabama
Getty ImagesThe Bengals lost ball-hawking safety Reggie Nelson to free agency which leaves a big hole in the defensive backfield. Jackson has possibly the best ball skills of any defensive back in the 2017 draft class.
26. Denver Broncos: LB Raekwon McMillan, Ohio State
Getty ImagesIt will be interesting to see how the Broncos perform in 2016 with either Mark Sanchez or Paxton Lynch at quarterback. The only other true hole on the roster is at inside linebacker and McMillan would fill that role nicely.
27. Arizona Cardinals: LB Tim Williams, Alabama
Getty ImagesIdeally, the Cardinals will be able to find Carson Palmer's eventual replacement in 2017, but there isn't one worth reaching for here. Williams is an animal and would give quarterbacks in the NFC West nightmares.
28. Carolina Panthers: G Pat Elflein, Ohio State
Getty ImagesThe Panthers' roster doesn't have many holes, but adding some depth along the offensive line could be beneficial. Elflein can play guard or center and could be a long-term replacement for Ryan Kalil.
29. Green Bay Packers: DT Davon Godchaux, LSU
Getty ImagesIt will be interesting to see if B.J. Raji actually returns in 2017 after a one-year hiatus. If he doesn't, Godchaux could be the perfect anchor for the Packers' defensive line.
30. Pittsburgh Steelers: T Zach Banner, USC
Getty ImagesThe Steelers aren't particularly deep along the offensive line, especially at the tackle position. Banner is a mountain at 6-foot-8 and 350 pounds and only allowed nine pressures at left tackle in 2015.
31. Seattle Seahawks: G Ethan Pocic, LSU
TwitterThe Seahawks weren't particularly great along the offensive line in 2015 and Pocic would be a valuable addition as he can play guard, center and right tackle. He would help the Seahawks get back to their power running game.
32. New England Patriots: DE Carl Lawson, Auburn
Getty ImagesAfter trading Chandler Jones to the Cardinals, the Patriots have a need for a pass rusher. Lawson is coming off of a hip injury, but he should put up big numbers in 2016 and would land in a perfect situation in New England.
