Exactly a week until the Champs Sports Bowl from the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL, the Florida Seminoles will be without three of their players in their matchup against Notre Dame.

Both Avis Commack and Arrington Jenkins were suspended earlier this week by FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher.  Commack and Jenkins were arrested last week for a felony theft charge. Commack had only nine tackles on the season and I wasn’t even able to find stats for Jenkins, so losing the two players really doesn’t hurt the Noles.

Losing Jermaine Thomas does though.

Florida State’s second leading rusher will miss the game against the Irish on Dec. 29 after failing to pass a class during the fall semester. The senior running back had 279 rush yards on the season and had more than 2,000 yards on the ground over the course of his four-year career at the school.

These legal problems and issues with players passing classes comes as no surprise to most who have followed this program for the last several seasons. This has been a common occurrence for FSU for several years now and a new head coach has not seemed to change the culture there.

FSU’s lack of discipline and ability to get their young men to get to class and pass makes it easy to root against the football program, especially when you are a Notre Dame fan. Under Brian Kelly, the football program still graduates its players at near a 100 percent clip, one of the few schools to do so.

Let’s just hope that translates into an Irish victory a week from today.
