To some of the Philadelphia Flyer faithful, last year was a huge disappointment. To the others, last year was a major building block for a very young team with a very bright future. With the recent news that Philadelphia Flyers winger, Jakub Voracek, signed a new four-year deal, the Flyers first line looks like they have found their replacement for Jaromir Jagr.

Jagr had an unpredictable year for the Flyers in 2011-2012. No one thought that he would be able to put up the numbers that he put up. What they thought would be that Jagr would mentor Claude Giroux as well as the rest of the team, which would help the young team grow even more. Well, Flyers fans quickly fell in love with the former Pittsburgh Penguin and New York Ranger great. Many, as well as myself, were disappointed when Jagr signed with the Dallas Stars in the offseason. But, what Jagr left in Philadelphia was a chance for a young 22-year old winger to fill the role Jagr had last year.

Jakub Voracek totaled 49 points last year, scoring 18 goals and tallying 31 assists while only playing 79 regular season games. If he was to fill Jagr’s void on the front line this year, Voracek would be paired with Giroux and Scott Hartnell, who are both coming off career years a year ago.

One would have to believe that Hartnell’s season can be replicated due to his line pairing. He will be the main shooter on that line with Giroux and Voracek following. I believe that Hartnell will definitely replicate 37 goals, he may actually score a couple more. Giroux’s breakout in 2011-2012 could mean more attention from opponents, which means that the Flyers will need to rely on Voracek a little more. This i why I believe Voracek will tally 65+ points for 2012-2013. Just by playing with the crafty Giroux and the shot-first mentality of Scott Hartnell can only increase Voracek’s numbers.

Voracek tallied 49 points last year as a 22-year old, who couldn’t predict a break out season for #93 as a 23-year old? The Philadelphia Flyers’ first preseason game begins on Thursday, September 20th versus the Washington Capitals. Their first regular season game is at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday, October 11 versus the Boston Bruins.
