The proposed deal that would have sent Mickael Pietrus to Toronto in exchange for a second round pick from the Raptors is postponed and the forward will return to the Suns. According to reports, Pietrus didn’t fail his physical, but the Raptors had concerns about the swelling in the forward’s surgically repaired knee.

Pietrus going to Toronto is now in jeopardy and it might not happen all together. Since the trade fell apart, the Raptors have signed Gary Forbes and Rasual Butler. Both are similar players to Pietrus and come at a much cheaper price than Pietrus’ $5.3 million contract for the 2011-2012 season.

With Pietrus now back in Phoenix, the Suns once again have a logjam on the wings. Pietrus, Grant Hill, Josh Childress, Jared Dudley and Shannon Brown can all play on the wings and Alvin Gentry will have his work cut out for him to try and divide up minutes between the five players.

Phoenix can try once again to deal Pietrus, but there won’t be a lot of teams knocking on the Suns door to pick up his contract. Before the lockout was over, some believed that the Lakers would be interested in Pietrus, but nothing has surfaced since that point. Plus, adding a small forward is the least of the Lakers worries at the moment.

It looks like the Suns are going to be stuck with Pietrus which is unfortunate because the Suns don’t want him and Pietrus doesn’t want to be in Phoenix. Should make things interesting during the season.
