  • Tom Barrasso set record for the most wins by an American-born goaltender with his 253rd win vs Winnipeg (the record was held previously by Pittsburgh Pirates goaltender Frank Brimsek 
  • the Penguins acquired Shawn McEachern and Tomas Sandstrom from the Los Angeles Kings for Marty McSorley and Jim Paek

1986

  • Doug Shedden beat Vancouver’s Richard Brodeur for his second hat trick with Pittsburgh 
  • Mario Lemieux recorded his 100th point of the season, becoming the first Penguin to record back-to-back 100 point seasons

1975

  • Rick Kehoe scored three times on Toronto Maple Leafs’ Doug Favell for his first hat trick with the Pens
