NFL Rumors: Dallas Cowboys Searching For Tight Ends?
Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

The Dallas Cowboys have receiver needs, most fans already knew that about the team. Perhaps most fans aren’t as worried about the tight end position as they are about the wide receiver spot; well the Cowboys maybe letting us know that they should be.

In practice on Monday, Alex Albright was doing some work at tight end. If you are not familiar with Albright, he played linebacker for the Cowboys last year and for his entire professional career. That he is practicing with the tight ends is a concern.

Right now, the Cowboys only have four tight ends on the roster. The first two, Jason Witten and John Phillips, are guaranteed roster spots if health permits. The other tight ends are rookies James Hanna and Andrew Szczerba. Hanna has a good shot of making the team, while Szczerba seems to be a training camp body. The Cowboys need all the help they can get at the position, especially since they run a good amount of two tight end formations. Working out Albright at tight end shows they are not satified with what they have at the position; even if Hanna makes the roster which seems likely at this point.

Should the Cowboys look into the free agent market to help at tight end or keep on working with the players they’ve got? Visanthe Shiancoe and Jeremy Shockey are among the free agents available but perhaps the Cowboys want to see what happens with the players they have before deciding on what to do.

Either way it seems pretty clear they need help at tight end.
